Special diet plan: Teenage diet plan

Teenagers tend to be obsessed on dieting more than people in other ages, particularly teenage girls. The are under enormous pressure to be thin. The people they see on television, in the movies, and in magazines – are actually dangerously underweight and resort to drastic and unhealthy measures to maintain their unrealistic shapes. The study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association also found that the teenagers who tried to control their weight were three times more likely to be overweight five years later than those who weren’t dieting. It is said as well that teenagers who diet or take unhealthy measures to control their weight are more likely to end up overweight as adults.

Besides, it is also true that these teenagers tend to face eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

 

What the doctors say on dieting among teenagers

Most medical doctors do not suggest teenagers to lose weight as they are still growing and need proper nutrition. Without good eating habits the body will not achieve its full growth potential. Although teenagers need to be concerned on nutrition more than dieting, keep in mind that most teenagers will not worried about their future health. So the most important point is that teenagers should have their own way to lose weight. And there is the safe teenage diet plan available.

First : knowing the shape.

Think that you or your teenagers should diet or not.

Second: Exercise

Teenagers can keep themselves healthy by exercising regularly. Join an after school sport, dance class or martial arts class. There are also many exercise shows on television. If you like solitary and less intense activities consider yoga or Pilates, which also have the added benefit of reducing stress.

Walking with wrist and ankle weights 4-5 times per week for 45 minutes is also recommended for teens. And the aerobic class with wrist and ankle weights 3-4 times per week for 30-40 minutes can be an alternative.

Third : Eat right

Teenagers are still in the growing process early on and it could be vital that they get enough needed nutrients in their diet like Calcium, fiber etc. So in Teenage diet plan, they need to make sure they get a fruits, vegetables, water, milk and lean meats into their diet. Eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and stay away from sugars, and most snacks with full of carbohydrate. If they do have a craving for one of these snacks, limit it to the proper quantity. Instead having this only a few times a week will be fine, because milk can be fattening itself. Anyway, skim milk is recommended as its lower fat and healthier for teens.

Forth: proper time

There are limits of the teenage diet plan to follow which will make teens stay healthy that are;

- Do not lose more than 2 ponds per week

- Do not lose weight by eating fewer calories without exercising.

- Do not eat any fast foods.

- Keep in mind that teens should never fast or skip meals.
